SLOB-TROT SOFTWARE SYSOP PAGER (1996) v.1.1ß
(Compiled with PPLC 3.2 14-May-1996)
This utility is designed to replace PCBoards internal page sys(O)p command.
SLOBPAGE is Shareware. Please read REGISTER.DOC for more information!
It is fully compatible with PCBoards internal Paging restrictments. If the
pagebell is off or if the time of paging is not within the times specified
in PCBSETUP, the caller can override the restrictments with a password, or
leave the Sysop a message (Or any PPE you would like to run instead)..
SLOBPAGE supports multiple languages!
Ready made files for Finnish language is included in the package.
Installing:
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
Unzip SPAGE11B.ZIP into a directory of your choice. We recommend giving
the files their own subdirectory (c:\pcb\ppe\slobpage)... All files should
be in the same directory.
Installing is easy. You have to add SLOBPAGE to your CMD.LST. You can do this
manually with the instructions beneath, or use the installer (INSTALL.EXE) we
have provided.
1) Installing with INSTALL.EXE application: Run INSTALL.EXE, modify the paths
given so that they are correct for your system, and press F10 to begin
installation. If a "O" command already exists in your CMD.LST file, you will
be notified, and SLOBPAGE.PPE will be appended as a second "O" command, in
which case the old one is the one that will be used, until you rename it or
delete it from the CMD.LST file. The security level for the "O" command is
set to 10 automatically.
2) Installing manually: Start PCBSETUP and select:1) B - File Locations
2) B - Configuration files
3) CMD.LST
Press F2 when the cursor is on the CMD.LST text. Then press ALT-I to insert a
new line into the CMD.LST and put "O" as the command... The line could look
like this:
╔════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗
║ CMD.LST Editor ║
║ ║
║ Charges Per PPE/MNU File Specification -or- ║
║ Command Sec Minute Use Keystroke Substitution ║
║ ══════════════ ═══ ═════════════════ ═════════════════════════════════
║ 01) O 10 0 0 ..\PPE\PAGE\SLOBPAGE.PPE ▒

║ ESC=Exit AltI=Insert AltD=Delete AltR=Repeat Alt5=25/50 F2=Edit ║
╚═ 00:00:00 ═══ 00-00-00 ══════ F1 ═ help ════ caps: OFF num: ON ins: OFF ╝
That's all....
Configuring
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
All configurations are made in the SPCONFIG. file. You should have a SPCONFIG.
file for each language supported. The SPCONFIG. is the default, and will be
used if no file is found for a specific language. Like all files in PCB the
difference between files for separate languages is the extension. If you have
German support in your BBS and the extension for the german language is .GER
you should have a file called SPCONFIG.GER in wich you can put the German
texts you want used. The YES/NO characters are also the same as specified in
PCBSETUP.
Configuration file. Each line in the file is a setting for something. Lines
are explained below. Remember that an empty line is required after the last
one (line 40). The config files should be located in the same directory as
the SLOBPAGE.PPE file! Here is an explanation of the settings:

There are two more files you can edit (we recommend PCBEDIT.EXE for editing)
PAGEOFF.* and SLOBDISP.*
The contents of PAGEOFF.* will be displayed when paging is not allowed.
The contents of SLOBDISP.* will be displayed when paging is allowed.
Combining the texts and positions of texts in SPCONFIG and these two
files gives unlimited configurability of the looks of your pager.....
You can even set the paging sound in the SPCONFIG file on lines 29-31.
The config file is quite simple to understand, But if you have difficulty,
we recommend using the default settings provided with SLOBPAGE.
Using
▀▀▀▀▀
Usage of the PPE is simple. When you have installed it and a caller selects
the [O] command, it will ask the user for a reason, after which it pages you.
If you don't answer the page, or if the user presses CTRL-K to break the page,
he will be able to select if he wants to leave you a message or not. If he
selects to leave a message, the PPE configured in SPCONFIG file will be run,
unless you have not put a PPE into the SPCONFIG file, in which case the PPE
stuffs the keyboard with the comment to sysop command (C), and your (C)omment
to sysop command will be run.
A message informing you about every unsuccesful page will be sent
automatically, and the reason will be added to the REASON.LOG file.
The message is sent to the user on line1 in SPCONFIG.* - You can override
the message by setting line32 in SPCONFIG to "NO", in which case no message
will be sent.
If paging is not allowed when a caller tries to page, a screen with three
options is displayed, which ofcourse can be changed in SPCONFIG.*
OPTIONS:
- Exit
- Password override
- Comment to sysop (Or the ppe specified on line 26 in SPCONFIG)
When selecting Password override (or whatever you might call it), the caller
will be prompted for a password. If he enters the wrong password (SPCONFIG -
line23) a message informing him of that will be displayed (SPCONFIG - line27)
and he will be returned to the options. If he enters the right password the
reason input is displayed, and so on...
Have a nice day!
